The Danvers Human Rights and Inclusion Committee is a cohesive task force against discrimination.  We will work to establish avenues of communication and promote bridge building for combating prejudice and intolerance.  The Committee stands united in creating a positive atmosphere for a multi-cultural community.

Gay Pride Flag Raising


In 2014 President Obama called on Americans to eliminate prejudice “everywhere it exists,” and declared June as Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Pride Month.  June was selected in honor of the June 1969 riots that took place at the Stonewall Inn, now widely recognized as the catalyst for the LGBT movement for civil rights in the United States;


In observance of this the Town of Danvers will be having a ceremony on Thursday, May 31, 2018 at 6:30 p.m. during which the gay pride rainbow flag will be raised at the Danvers Town Hall.  During June there will also be a flag flown on the flag pole at the Library.  There will be a short program at the Town Hall to commemorate the raising of the flag followed by light refreshments.  Cynthia Dunn, Executive Director of the Danvers Housing Authority, will be the main speaker for the event.


Please feel free to join us and to celebrate the progress that has been made in ensuring that the rights of all are respected as well as recognizing the challenges that still exist.
